OUTRIGGER ISLAND: DAY 1!

Welcome to the first day of VBS Outrigger Island! All teachers and helpers were decked out in true Hawaiian fashion as leis were spotted left, right and centre! The session started off with registration. Although it was chaotic at first but it was all in good fun as the kids remained upbeat and excited as they were ushered into Worship Rally Lagoon, their first pit stop.

Bursting with energy, the kids learnt the beat and actions of our VBS theme song, which was called "Outrigger Island". After that, the kids dispersed to their respective classrooms to learn their first bible verse of the week, taken from Isaiah 44:6b: I am the first and the last, there is no God but me.

All throughout the day, all classes took turns in chilling out at Craft Cabana. The craft of the Day depicted a group of people crossing the Red Sea, with reference to the Bible story of how Moses parted the Red Sea with God’s help, as he guided the people in the great escape from Egypt.

Strips of blue paper with curled edges were used for the sea, and ice-cream sticks were used as people. A cute and simplistic design indeed! “God Is Real” was the motto of the day. The kids spent 25 minutes vigorously working on these crafts. I wonder what the parents will think of them when they come for the showcase this Saturday. =D These crafts will be displayed in each kid’s respective classrooms so please come this Saturday!

From the crafts the kids have made and the story of Moses they were told, they learned that God the Almighty is REAL and will always help them in their times of need. From that, they learnt that they should have nothing to fear when God is with them. At Missions Lookout, the 11-12 year olds learnt about missionaries and how God was with them when they went to Jamaica to spread God’s Word. Tune in tomorrow for Day Two updates!
